The application that facilitates the work of scientists in planning future flu seasons
I fully designed the app for scientists at pharmacy company. *Designs were anonymized because of the NDA
Methods & Tools
Overview
Forecasting Seasonal Flu Severity based on Machine Learning and Genetics. Knowing at minimum 6 months in advance whether a country will be impacted by a low, moderate or severe flu season.
Problem
Every year society is faced with a greater or lesser flu season
❌ What can you do to be prepared in advance for an increased incidence of flu?
Solution
The application that will help predict the next flu season using historical data collected by scientists.
This data will allow to prepare for a possible increase in flu cases and respond appropriately during the flu season.
Process
Kick-off and user interviews: I went through key business expectations, I conducted the user interviews with scientists to understand their problems
User personas: Based on interviews with scientists,
I prepared user personas to better understand users' needs and problems
Information architecture and user flow: As the process was pretty complicated, I needed to understand the scientists needs, design IA and clear user flow, and after meetings with scientists I could make another updates
Wireframes and Hi-fi design: Because of there was a lot of functionalities, to actually maintain and improve the app. I prepared projects using the design system used at Roche
User testing and iteration: I conducted tests on prototypes, then after preparing the application MVP, I repeated the tests, taking into account the answers from the first tests with users. Summary of tests on the application allowed for the introduction of corrections and improved the application. After about 5 months, scientists were able to use the new application, which significantly simplified their work
💪 Outcome
Learning new scientific issues, understanding the needs of scientists and then implementing them was a great challenge that developed my skills.
In the meantime, there were some technical difficulties due to the chosen programming technology, but we managed to agree on a plan that met the guidelines and expected results.
I improved my project presentation skills so that a person from a completely different profession, such as scientists, could feel good during meetings such as interviews and usability tests, and thanks to this I received valuable feedback.
